Sandals South Coast - White House, Jamaica

The beachside chapel, the Jamaican sunset, the Sandals’ cats…

This Jamaican dream wedding day literally has everything!

Our incredibly sweet and genuine bride and groom for this wedding weekend in paradise flew my second shooter (wife) and I out to the unbelievable 5-star Sandals South Coast Resort. This particular couple first did an engagement session with me a couple of years prior and had such a great time that they decided to bring us along to their Caribbean wedding.

Having never stayed at a Sandals resort before, let alone visit Jamaica, my wife and had no idea what to expect. From the moment we arrived to Jamaica we were absolutely blown away. The beauty of the island with its vibrant teal blue water immediately took us aback and the reality started to set in that we would be shortly photographing a wedding… here?!?!

After an interesting bus ride from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, we were greeted with luxury service (and a welcome drink) from the Sandals Resort staff. We could not believe how beautiful the resort was from the gigantic pool to the pastel-colored buildings to the many friendly cats that wandered the grounds searching for pets and food scraps.

Once we settled in to our beachside room with a fully stocked fridge filled fill complimentary wine and liquor we immediately set out to scout locations for the wedding day. We decided that the first look would take place next to a beautiful blue pastel building, family formals would take place in the Italian Village area, and the bridals would (of course) take place on the beach next to the signature chapel. What we didn’t know at the time was that the wedding would eventually get moved from the white rose garden to said chapel, much to our chagrin. :)

The bridesmaids started off the wedding day at the salon while the groomsmen enjoyed the pool. After getting our flat lays in the sand and photos of the princess dress we then got our getting ready photos in the bridal suite. We then moved on to capture the emotional first look but as luck would have it, the father of the bride unexpectedly showed up right before to have his own special first look with his daughter. After the bride and groom exchanged meaningful vows, we then quickly took family formals allowing the whole wedding party to freshen up before the big walk to the chapel.

The ceremony was unbelievably scenic and went on without a hitch! - well technically there was one hitch ;). The couple even did the special Sandals sand ceremony during their beach wedding. One thing the bride wanted was glowy golden hour photos and boy did she get her wish! Right before the ceremony the sky opened up and gave us an absolutely breathtaking sunset during and after the ceremony. Needless to say, the sunsets in Jamaica are incredible.

Once cocktail hour wrapped up we then headed out to the white rose garden for a fun, emotional and vibrant reception. The plated dinner was absolutely delicious! All in all this was a once in a lifetime wedding day for me to photograph and a great first international wedding! Sandals South Coast Jamaica absolutely exceeded my expectations and I am already itching to go back to this beautiful country.
