Hyatt Centric - Park City, Utah

Park City isn’t just known for its world class skiing and fine dining, it’s also a fantastic mountain town perfect for summer weddings. This outdoor wedding day kicked off the first week of June with a clear and beautiful summer day. Located at the base area of Canyons at Park City Ski Resort, the Hyatt Centric Park City was a fantastic wedding venue. As a wedding photographer I especially enjoy when the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception areas are all within steps of each other.

I started off the day in the rustic and spacious bridal suite. Our bride was still getting hair and makeup touch ups done by Kristen Dee of 27th Street Parlour, so I proceeded to photograph her stunning white dress. Once the bride was ready to go we captured getting ready photos with her sister and then group photos with the rest of her ladies. The vibes were high as the wedding ceremony was kicking off soon! The couple opted to not do a first look and instead have an earlier ceremony (in this case at 1pm). If you are not planning on doing a first look for you wedding day and are instead waiting to see each other at the altar, I highly suggest having your ceremony earlier in the day so that you don’t have to hide the bride for too long and can get the party started!

The ceremony was intimate, beautiful and very meaningful. The bride and groom had a lovely story and as a result the ceremony was filled with laughs and grand emotions. After the couple exchanged rings and kissed, it was time to head to the getaway car! In this case it was a sleek and sexy candy apple red Corvette.

I followed the couple just outside of Park City near the Olympic Ski Park where we took bridals with the rolling hills and mountains as a backdrop. After our mini photo session it was time for a midday break before more guests arrived for the reception. The Hyatt Centric staff had a quick turnaround for the reception area to become the cocktail hour area/dance floor. They absolutely killed it! Green Dahlia Studios based nearby in Park City provided the magnificent florals, especially on the wedding cake.

More guests joined the festivities and the refreshments started flowing! I love cocktail hour as it’s a great time to capture various wedding guests crossing paths and meeting for the first time. It’s so cool to capture new friends who have always heard about each other but have yet to meet. The Hyatt Centric staff had a tasty aperitif buffet set up with various vegetables, light bites and dips severed in Le Creuset tableware. After many photos were taken with bride & groom and their guests, it was time for dinner and speeches!

The dinner was delicious and featured prime rib served with various accompaniments that paired perfectly together. A couple of lighthearted and fun toasts were given by the best man and maid of honor. At this point in the day the sun had retreated over the Park City mountains and the lighting was absolutely perfect for an outdoor wedding reception. The bride and groom compassionately thanked their guests before hitting the dance floor for their gorgeous first dance. Sometimes you really feel a first dance through the photos and this one in particular was a perfect example.

After the couple shared their special moment on the dance floor it was time for their guests to join in on the fun, and boy did they! Chris Mulwee from Utah Jive played a high energy set featuring songs old and new. I am officially going on the record to say that this was some of the most fun and crazy dancing I have ever seen at a wedding reception! The couple and their guests were so genuine and nice to me that this day was such a joy! I had an incredible time!
