McPolin Farm - Park City, Utah

Photographing and capturing a wedding proposal might be the most rewarding and exhilarating part of being an engagement & wedding photographer. Weddings are very fast-paced and are always rewarding, but nothing is quite like helping guide someone to propose and ask the biggest question of their lives. I mean its kinda crazy. You are conspiring with a stranger to completely fool their best friend haha!

From beginning to end, I try to do as much as I can to help plan out the best proposal possible. That includes phone calls to go over the gameplan, sending my location on iphone, location-scouting, arriving early, preparing for lighting/background and general coaching on how to best get on one knee for your particular situation. Proposals don’t just have to be a cross your fingers and hope you get lucky setup!

Chris reached out to me looking for a beautiful and scenic location near Park City to do the thing! After we researched a few locations , we decided to go with McPolin Farm just outside of Main Street. When planning a proposal I try to think of the experience as a whole, not just the act of photographing the proposal. In this particular case we wanted to choose a location that was close to Park City so that after she said yes, they could go celebrate and make a dinner reservation instead of driving down a canyon for 45 minutes. If you are looking for something similar, I cannot recommend McPolin Farm enough! Not only is it spacious, it is also very easy to get to! There’s also a big white barn that is great to use to plan the location of the proposal perfectly.

After Chris did the thing, we walked down the Park City bike and walking path to peak into a wooded area full of beautiful fall yellow leaves. Another great thing about photographing proposals is that the energy is so high and happy, it’s hard to take a bad photo! Once we got enough of the couple showing off the new ring, it was time to pop champagne and send them on their merry and engaged way!

If you’d like to propose to your significant other I’d highly suggest hiring a photographer! You (most likely) haven’t ever done this before but we have!
