Yeehaw! What a magical day at Storm King Mountain Ranch in Montrose, Colorado! Located in southwest Colorado in between Grand Junction and Telluride, Montrose is a quaint small town featuring tasty breweries, big sky, and beautiful ranches. Among these ranches is the gorgeous Storm King Mountain Ranch. This wedding venue features a ceremony site with insane vista of the San Juan mountains in the backdrop filled with wispy tall grass directly behind where couples say “I Do.”
The interior of Storm King Mountain Ranch features a grand ceiling display with beautiful chandeliers, string lights and a decked out bar. This is perfect for a reception area where couples want to feel close to their wedding guests, kind of like a big dinner party; think of the grand dining ballroom at Hogwarts :). The large getting ready room for brides and/or grooms features many mirrors, couches and has a private patio to hide the bride if needed! There’s also a fun antler chandelier!
We began the day by separating the bride and groom and capturing their getting ready shots with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Leor from Meant To Bee Events was essential in giving Kelli and I the lay of the land at Storm King Mountain Ranch and making sure we had everything we needed in order to have a successful event. After capturing all of the details and getting ready photos we prepared for an amazing ceremony with the grand display of Montrose in the background. The couple said “I do,” kissed, and proceeded to celebrate with their guests.
We knocked out family formals and then headed to the patio. Just outside of the Storm King Mountain Ranch main ballroom. Jimmer’s BBQ had a Mac n cheese station set up during cocktail hour (I wish I would’ve thought of this for my own wedding). After a few drinks, dinner was served by Jimmer’s BBQ and speeches were given by the bride & groom’s maid of honor, best man and father of the bride.
After dinner many of the guests headed outside to watch a brilliant sunset by the wooden ranch fence and have their photos taken in the grand display. Kelli and I jumped at the opportunity to take solo photos of the wedding guests. We always advise our wedding couple to tell their guests to approach us if they want their photo taken with their significant other or family members. Once the sun set it was time for dancing! Valkyrie Productions put on a great set featuring a mix of country, rock, and classic wedding songs. It was an amazing day!
