Fall Colors Explosion Cottonwood Canyons Couple’s Shoot

Big Cottonwood Canyon, UT

When Christopher contacted me about surprising his girlfriend Megan with an autumn couple’s session, I knew we needed to find some fall leaves. After living in the desert in Phoenix, Arizona for about 3 years, I missed the fall season and all the beautiful colors of leaves that it brought. I moved up to Salt Lake City in June and although I was looking most forward to the upcoming ski season, second was being able to shoot with a backdrop of Mother Nature’s finest light show.

What we experienced was better than I could have imagined.

I was told that, in autumn, both Cottonwood Canyons light up with yellow and orange, so I decided to see for myself the day before we had our shoot planned. I was blown away. I headed up to Guardsman’s pass, a junction that joins Park City and Big Cottonwood Canyon (Solitude & Brighton ski areas) together. There I came upon an overlook that backdropped into bright golden aspens and knew right away that this must be the place. The next day, when I met Christopher and Megan up there, the leaves were just as beautiful, and we had a great time doing the shoot right at golden hour!

Check out some images from the shoot below and if you are interested in venturing out to either of the Cottonwood Canyons, send me a message!
