S+L quickly needed engagement photos to make save-the-dates for their destination wedding abroad in Italy next year. We were originally planning on doing the engagement session at Antelope Island State Park; however, we pivoted after looking at the bug forecast. (In case you didn’t know, Antelope Island can get overrun with biting flies early in the summer, rendering it borderline unbearable. It’s normally an amazing place to shoot, just not when the bugs are out)

After much discussion, we decided on Big Springs Park in Provo Canyon, just outside of Orem, Utah. This was my first time shooting at Big Springs Park, and it definitely won’t be my last! With the wide-open field at the base of the Wasatch mountains, the aspens, and babbling brooks, this location is perfect for any engagement session, wedding photography, or elopement. It truly looks as if it is out of a fairytale. I actually photographed an elopement at Big Springs Park one short week later.

S+L came prepared with a blanket, champagne, and a cake to have the most perfect picnic engagement session—they even brought their dog! The champagne pop and cake cutting (with some amazingly retro Anthropologie glasses) was so much fun to capture! We all had a blast, especially the pup!

I feel so lucky to be a wedding and elopement photographer in Utah, with how many beautiful outdoors locations we have to choose from. From the Salt Flats to the Wasatch mountains to National Parks and even red rocks, we really do have any scenery at our fingertips. If you would like an engagement session or wedding or elopement photography at Big Springs Park (or anywhere else in the beautiful state of Utah), please feel free to reach out with any questions!
